After
‘the hat’
has been filled (with assistance from Phil the Persuader!), a
donation to Gary’s
son Oliver’s
School (The Hall
School, Old
Catton) will be
made. The Hall
School would
like to convey
their thanks for all
the donations received so far this year. The Hall
School is a
specialist
college for
communication
and interaction
providing
excellent
facilities for
children with
learning
difficulties
such as autism. Our money is specifically being used to fund a new
multi-sensory room to be known as 'The Studio'. A special interactive plasma
screen will be the centre of attraction for the children. Building work on
the room has already started and fitting of equipment will start late 2009.

Black's Swing
Jazz n Blues
Band
(4
piece, acoustic
bass, guitar,
piano, drums.)
Sound
sample from the
last Barn gig
The
picture above
was taken back
in the nineties
when she was a
founder member
of the Lee Vasey
Big Band 'Blues
Sisters' harmony
group. She then
ran the Rhythm
Club Sunday
night blues jams
at the Ferry
Boat in Norwich
successfully for
some years. This
was anchored by
members of her
popular Lena
Black Big
Band, plus
guesting blues
bands. Lena
worked in her
own shows with
such as blues
diva Dana
Gillespie (The
Greatest RnB
Show....On Legs!
at the Theatre
Royal, Norwich
etc) plus
supported Jools
Holland Shows
locally. She
also worked
locally as both
a country duo
and in her Texas
Tea Boys country
band, with
Jool's guitarist
Mark Flanagan.
After about a
twelve year
break
and as a
direct result of
an unplanned but
well received
'guest from the
floor spot',
singing
Summertime with
JT &
Accent3 in
the Crosswinds
Barn last year,
the Lena Black
Swing Jazz n
Blues Band has
formed.
Lena Black -
vox/piano
(Miss) Nicky
Spinks - guitars
Steady Eddie
Baker -
percussion
Dave Clague (ex
Bonzo Dogs/Kevin
Coyne
and Siren) acoustic
bass.
The band aims to
mix up an
entertaining
brew of early
risqué Kansas
City Red Hot
Jazz scene
material, with
some swing and
country blues
and tributes to
jazz n blues
divas like
Billie Holiday,
Bonnie Raitt,
Julia Lee, Eva
Cassidy etc. Recently they have appeared to a great response at the
Salhouse Lodge on Sunday evenings.

Remember
'From Fen to
Glen & back
again'?
well
in June it
was...
'Reepham
to Riviera' or
even 'Taverham
to Torquay'

JT
& Accent 3
travelled to the
Torquay area in
June 2009 for a
mini-tour of the
English
Riviera!
Along
the way they
caught up with
Philip Woodrow
(Roger's
nephew), who
some of you will
remember
drumming for
Denim, and
playing bass for
Sounds Imperial
locally a few
years ago.
Philip
now has his
successful one
man show on the
Riviera circuit,
belting out
quality vocals
like only he
can!
Best
quote of the
week as we were
setting up one
night from a
member of the
audience was:
(apply
appropriate 'Jethro'
lilt)
'If
we don't like
you, we'll tell
you to f***
off....!'
Well
thank goodness
it was a great
night! I'll
upload some pics
one day....! Maybe even the Crocodile!
